Surface Truth, founded in 2019, was initiated by its main creator, Ding Shibei, in Chongqing. The name of the band also reveals its musical attitude, which metaphorically represents the opposition between reality and illusion, and highlights the contest between materialism and idealism. It also tries to awaken and establish a new logical system of expression. The style of their works is mainly humanistic indie rock, and they observe and record from the perspective of the bottom layer, depicting the unspeakable and chaotic things in the world, presenting natural chapters that can be examined, and standing on the high ground with an independent perspective in the face of the torrent of the times.

The lineup of Surface Truth has undergone several changes, and the current lineup includes lead singer/guitarist Ding Shibei, lead guitarist Shen Chen, Si Jiang Kenan on bass, keyboardist Wang Xin, and drummer Wei Qiang. The band members have been working in their respective professional fields for many years and have participated in many domestic and overseas large-scale performances. The band gathers everyone like a trumpet, and under the conception of the album, everyone seems to have found their original musical state. Although trapped in the current environment, the band still takes basic creation, rehearsal, and recording as their own responsibility and does everything a musician should do well at the moment. They take the expression of musical ideas as the core and focus on building a breakthrough in the standards of music performances. They have found their own soil under the torrent of the current era.
